Last Chance Retreat and Trails
Last Chance Retreat and Trails (LCR&T) is located in the heart of the Manistee National Forest just outside of Baldwin, MI. It is said to be "the home of MiDD" because most MiDD events are either staged or are entirely held at this location. It is owned and operated by the Langes.
The Last Chance Retreat and Trails offers lodging, camping, and 100+ acres of trails. There is a main building with a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom, a living/dining area, and bedrooms with double beds. These bedrooms are for rent. There is also a four bedroom cabin for rent adjacent to the LCR&T property. There is camping with 30 amp electric service. The main building, with the exception of the bedrooms, is open for use of all LCR&T guests for showers and meals. There is also a campfire pit with seating for everyone's use (firewood provided). The trails on the property are firm surfaced, sandy, two-track type forested trails that have numerous intersections for lots of command and directional work. Challenging hills are available or can be avoided.
Note: S. Forest Hill Dr. is the last mile of road to the Last Chance Retreat and Trails. It is hilly, so lock in your 4 x 4 upon entering it or accelerate well before the uphills. Many people drive on it every day, all year round, with minivans, front wheel drive vehicles, vehicles pulling large trailers, etc. At the top of the last hill, the road passes through a gate and finally dead ends in the LCR&T parking area.
